From Vancouver to Calgary: Agency Headshots for Opera Singer Peter Monaghan (Ft his Toddler.)

Peter is one of my very good friends and an insanely talented opera singer who needed new headshots for his agency. I’ve missed him ever since he moved to Lethbridge with his family, so when he asked me to come visit and do a shoot I jumped at the chance.

We met in Calgary’s East Village intending to shoot inside the gorgeous and modern public library, but we found out it was closed after some heckin youths set off pepper spray throughout the building the night before! Fortunately we were still able to take advantage of some great natural light and shot around the exterior of the library. Peter brought a couple of outfit changes and looked handsome as always, and we were able to get lots of different looks all around the building.

Peter’s lovely wife (and our good buddy) also joined us with their three-year-old son, who I finally got to meet for the first time. He was shy and didn’t understand why I kept taking his dad away, but made fast friends with my husband Sean over their shared love of monkey sounds. By the time we did a location change to a spacious but modern-looking parking garage near the library, our tiny pal couldn’t stay away from dad any longer.

The parking garage turned out to be one my favourite locations to shoot in. We were able to go on the rooftop and get the Calgary skyline behind Peter, and even dodged traffic (and security guards) on the ramps in between levels. Anything to get the perfect shot for my friend, who loved the end results (and so did his agent.)

After the shoot, we said goodbye to our friends and we celebrated a job well done on a patio with beers and nachos :)
